What a night it was! (and its good to be back on the regular Sunday blog)
Congratulations are in order for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), my favorite team which defeated Inter Milan 5-0 on the finale of Champion's league. The match was incredible! Paris, capitale of fashion, is also a hub of world-class football. The city has become a vibrant center for the sport, with teams like PSG showcasing incredible young and/or seasoned talents.
Most football players are also big fashionistas. But many have "simply" a love for pets, and that adds a delightful twist to their public personas.
The Football Legacy of Paris
As said, Paris has made a significant mark on European football, particularly through PSG. The club was form.ed in 1970. This club has seen legendary players like Kylian Mbappé, Neymar, and Lionel Messi. Each of those stars has left an indelible mark on fans and the sport itself.
For example, in the 2022-2023 season, PSG won the Ligue 1 title, showcasing their stellar roster and drawing in over 36,000 fans per game at the Parc des Princes stadium. While these players revel in their athletic achievements, they also reveal a softer side when they interact with their pets — a heartwarming glimpse into their lives beyond football.
Below is just a little summary of international players who were at PSG.
Mbappé and His Sasha
Kylian Mbappé? Of course! he is the rising star of French football, is just as famous for his stunning footwork as he is for his affectionate relationship with his Golden Retriever named "Sasha". This pair is a common sight in Tiktok posts, with Mbappé often sharing snapshots of their adventures on social media.
Kilian and Sasha
Their bond is not only charming but also relatable. Research shows that pet owners report a 60% increase in overall happiness, and it’s evident how Sasha has played a role in Mbappé’s life, helping him unwind after high-stakes matches and full training days. Fans find joy in this dynamic, further endearing Mbappé to the public.

Neymar and His Whole Love for Pets
Neymar stands out not only for his "flamboyant" playing style, but also for his unique taste in pets. He is the proud owner of many dogs, and also a stunning parrot named “Luna,” who frequently appears in his social media posts.

Messi, A Family Man with a Passion for Pets
Lionel Messi, known for his incredible talent, also embodies the values of family and companionship through his pet, a big, humongous Dogue of Bordeaux, "Hulk" (well named!)

The Purr-fect Pair: Player-Cat Relationships
Parisian footballers also enjoy the charm of cats as companions. Marco Verratti is a notable example, proudly owning a feline named "Gigi." Gigi is often seen lounging beside Verratti during his downtime, embodying the perfect mix of independence and companionship that cats offer.
The Joy of Giving: Charity Work for Animal Welfare
It is truly inspiring to see Paris's (ex-) football stars leveraging their influence to support animal welfare initiatives. Players like Kylian Mbappé and Neymar are actively involved in campaigns that focus on promoting pet adoption.
For instance, Mbappé and Neymar have raised awareness about local shelters in Paris, creating events that connect fans with rescue animals. Their efforts not only shine a spotlight on the need for shelter support but also demonstrate their commitment to bettering the community.
A Heartfelt Nod to Our Furry Friends
The football stars of Paris, former and future, showcase not just talent on the field but also warmth and compassion in their relationships with their pets. These beloved companions remind us of the importance of love and loyalty, no matter how high our ambitions.
As PSG continues to win and capture hearts with thrilling matches, the captivating images of Mbappé, Neymar, Messi, and their furry friends add another layer to the game’s narrative. In a city celebrated for its football prowess, it’s these moments of affection off the pitch that truly capture the essence of sporting greatness.
So let’s celebrate the furry companions, always. They not only enhance the players’ lives, but also enrich our appreciation for the beautiful game. Love for our pets is just as vital off the pitch as it is on it.
Xoxo, Alice
And Congratulations again to PSG! We are proud. Nous sommes fiers!
